Being sick sucks. I thought this sore throat was my usual post-ValDay scratchiness brought on by too much talking-loud-enough-to-be-heard-over-the-background-roar and inhaling dust at the county fairgrounds. But that doesn't last this long, or spread throughout my throat and ears. My voice comes and goes (mostly goes). This wouldn't be too bad except that I can't talk loud enough for my dad to hear me (he lost quite a lot of his hearing in the last year). Hopefully this will just be a normal cold. In the last few years I've had colds that led directly to a complete loss of all ability to speak; a decided disadvantage when the job I had at the time required lots of phone calls. Right now, at least, I don't have to talk to anyone much.
