Heads up, Michiganders: The US government is going to start requiring passports to travel to and from Canada. Yes, Canada. Passports will be required starting January 1, 2007, if you're travelling by sea or air. If you're driving across the border, the deadline is January 1, 2008. Here's an article in the Detroit Free Press. Aside from this making tourism and cross-border shopping more difficult, I wonder what they expect people who commute across the river to do? And passport prices have gone up since I got mine; renewal by mail is $67, but a first-time application is $97.
Learning about this caused me to go searching for my passport. I used it last August when Brian and I went to Stratford, so I knew it was around here somewhere. After much frustration, I found it, only to discover that it expired last Tuesday.
Sigh.
So, Ladies, we should probably try to squeeze in all our mad Lush-gathering trips to Windsor in the next 17 months!
