I just watched an episode of "Queer Eye" where they made over a guy who's a "medieval re-enactor." They never came out and said "SCA," but that's definitely what it looked like this guy was doing. At first the Fab Five were making fun of him, but by the end the started to respect what he was doing. And he cleaned up nice.

I'll keep this episode on tape for a while if anyone wants to watch it.

Speculation on the kingdom list was that he was part of the MSR (an SCAish re-enactment group). The NYC chapter is known as "Kingdom of Acre", and they camp at Pennsic. They've even been part of Great Court and Opening Ceremonies some years.

Huh. Never heard of them. The event they showed looked kinda small for an SCA shindig, so maybe that's why. Looked awfully similar, though.

There's at least one other SCAish group in Colorado that was founded by former SCAdiens.

It's definitely Acre. They have a treaty with the East. I spent the entire episode on the phone with a friend trying to figure out what group it was. :)

I was a little irritated with the Fab 5s 'tude about the whole thing ("He's *30* and he still does this???")

Yeah, the attitude bugged me too, but I liked Kyan's apology at the end.

We were talking about it at fight practice this Sunday, and pretty much all of us would like to see it too! [livejournal.com profile] 1maddhatter is doing a movie night; perhaps schedules (and stars!) could be arranged?

And if you do figure out how to arrange stars, could you tell me? :)

Monday: ~2 hours sleep
Tuesday: ~3 hours sleep

does it show? :)

Well, I'm not coming to dance practice this week, and next Monday I'm heading out to Kalamazoo to be Zaynab's sewing slave. I'll be back on Thursday, stopping by dance practice on my way home. I don't know when would be a good time to squeeze in a viewing; gas prices being what they are I like to combine trips. We'll figure something out.

Ooh, I definitely want to see that! I love that show! You know, random trivia, Carson (who is my favorite) went to Gettysburg College. Imagine that... Gettysburg actually producing someone entertaining!

If I can't catch it on cable, I'd definitely like to see it at some point.

I think you can download episodes from iTunes. Check out bravotv.com (http://www.bravotv.com/).

Hi Miss Lydia,

Many thanks again for your rescuing efforts. I added you as a friend on here, I'm not sure why I didn't do so earlier. Hope you are well.
