I just watched an episode of "Queer Eye" where they made over a guy who's a "medieval re-enactor." They never came out and said "SCA," but that's definitely what it looked like this guy was doing. At first the Fab Five were making fun of him, but by the end the started to respect what he was doing. And he cleaned up nice.

I'll keep this episode on tape for a while if anyone wants to watch it.

Speculation on the kingdom list was that he was part of the MSR (an SCAish re-enactment group). The NYC chapter is known as "Kingdom of Acre", and they camp at Pennsic. They've even been part of Great Court and Opening Ceremonies some years.

Huh. Never heard of them. The event they showed looked kinda small for an SCA shindig, so maybe that's why. Looked awfully similar, though.

There's at least one other SCAish group in Colorado that was founded by former SCAdiens.

It's definitely Acre. They have a treaty with the East. I spent the entire episode on the phone with a friend trying to figure out what group it was. :)

I was a little irritated with the Fab 5s 'tude about the whole thing ("He's *30* and he still does this???")

Yeah, the attitude bugged me too, but I liked Kyan's apology at the end.
