Happy Birthday, Mr. Burns!

"Excellent!"

No, not that Mr. Burns!

If John Raymond Burns were alive today, he'd be 105 years old. He's my grandpa!

Here's a picture of him in his Cavalry uniform, circa 1932:
First Lieutenant J.R. Burns

Somebody's been hitting the family albums again...

Now this is your mom's dad?

Love the jodhpurs. Heh. ;-)

Yep, that's mom's dad. He's the one who was 6'3", married to a woman barely 5 feet tall. I think that's where I get what little height I have!

And the jodhpurs are just too cool.

Neat... and young family... if my grand pappy were alive today he'd be...oh lord.. 118 years old.

I love old photos so much. It's fun to look at a picture of my father when he was younger and see my brother looking out at me... stuff like that. Sometimes, it's downright creepy because it really does look like they Photoshopped one of my cousins into a picture taken in 1912.

That is one of the things I don't like about being adopted. I don't get to look through photo albums full of family members I love and see myself among the old pictures. I wish I looked like one of my aunts or cousins, and not just in resemblance. I really do wish I could say, "I have Aunt Martha's eyes," and so on.

I look a LOT like my mother, though, with my father's eyes, so nobody has ever wondered if I'm adopted. It's kind of funny, actually. People mention it, and we just laugh and say, "Yup. We're twins." :)
